INFOGRAPHICS & BRANDING
The project idea that I decided to investigate for my final course project was focused on environmental damage that is done by the use of synthetic fabrics. The topic required me to look at different kinds of synthetic fabrics, to understand their characteristics and most importantly, how long it takes for them to decompose. While researching, I placed numerous hours to understand all the different ways in which fabrics can be reused or recycled.Â
The reason why I decided to focus on this topic, was the result of the rising concern over global warming and how we contribute to it without even realizing. I hoped that my project would help understand the damage that is done by synthetic materials used in packaging or other consumer goods industries, but most importantly in clothing. In this way, through creative thinking, raising awareness of what can be done to make contributions for each individual to reduce their CO2 emissions, and helping the environment in the long term, improving quality of life for everyone around.
The outcome of this project gave me great insights into skills of data analysis, and how that information can be addressed visually, through infographic media. Over the time I focused on this topic, it allowed me to show my evaluative skills, that focus on different areas than just the ones involving graphic design, however, in the same way, it showed how important graphic design is when it comes to presentation of data and how it can be used as a great resource to send a wider social message.
